My translation mission is The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. It is a romance novel and published in2003. Nicholas Sparks is a famous American best-selling author, This novel is The Notebook follow-up articles, and it is the story of The Notebook’s leading character Allie and Noah Calhoun’s eldest daughter Jane and son-in-law, Wilson. After20years of their marriage, the30th anniversary of the marriage is coming up, Wilson realizes that he loves Jane more than ever, but instead, He always ignores her in their marriage life, including the29th anniversary of their marriage. He is worried that his wife will leave him, so Wilson decide to win back his wife Jane’s heart, He makes a big plan which is holding a grand wedding ceremony for their upcoming30th anniversary, let his wife feel love again.This novel includes18Chapters, The author tells the story about the hero and his wife’s marital status and the hero’s subsequent changes in his attitude afterward by prepare for his daughter Anna’s wedding as the main line runs through the entire novel, The author uses a lot of psychological description, environment description, portrait description and dialogue between the characters to depict the characters and plot, and recreates the language character in the original text from the character’s smiles, gestures, to create a comprehensive set of vivid images.The novel mainly describes the marriage affairs between ciphers in reality, The author images performance incisively and vividly with a lot of ink in details on the character. The whole text do not have climax of the plot, but it can make the reader deeply touched through nuanced psychological description, especially aroused great sympathy with adults.I translated the Overview section and the first chapter. Throughout the translation process, I chose Eugene A Nida’s equivalence theory to guide whole translation, through apply the contrast between English and Chinese to embody the example analysis in the translation report as well.
