Study of synonym is always being the important and difficult point in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the subtle differences between synonyms always bring some misunderstandings to the students and even generate error analysis. Therefore, the study on synonym error analysis has an active effect on students’Chinese learning. Based on the collecting and organizing the synonym errors in homework, quizes and tests of Thai students, this thesis gets a conclusion by questionnaires and analysis that among the synonym error types in Thai students, the error rate of words meaning weight comes up to65.3%, the error rate of different point of words meaning up to76%, the error rate of the different range of words meaning up to53.8%, the error rate of object of words meaning up to72.4%, the error rate of different color of words meaning up to51.6%, the error rate of different style up to68.4%, the error rate of mixture of parts of speech up to63.8%. All of this proportion is gotten by using the number of errors to divide the total number and analyzing the reasons. It deals with four parts such as language transfer, Chinese ontology factors, communication strategies and misleading in teaching Chinese. About language transfer, there are inter-lingual negative transfer and intralingual negative transfer. The inter-lingual negative transfer discusses about the negative transfer by mother tongue(Thai language) and the influences on learning brought by English. The intralingual negative transfer deals with the interferences brought by language system during students’Chinese learning.Chinese ontology factors is discussed from the consequences caused by polysemy, the same morpheme and the same pronunciation. Communication strategies is caused by the errors made when the students take some roundabout measures to express themselves because of lack of vocabulary. The misleading in Chinese teaching, is discussed from the misleading by teachers and books and even dictionaries. Finally, the ways to solve the error problems is gotten from synonym discrimination and teaching principles. Synonym discrimination is elaborated from morpheme analysis, antonym analysis and context analysis. The teaching principles are mainly to obey the easy and simple principle, emphasize the polysemous words, avoid the interferences of language transfer, moreover, the positive effects on error solution of the three principles are analyzed and discussed. All in all, this thesis is mainly to classify the errors made by Thai students in Chinese learning, to analyze the reasons and seek for solutions, in hope that this will provide some references to Chinese teaching in Thailand, at the same time, Thai students can also get some inspirations so that they learn Chinese more efficiently.
