Analysis Of The C-E Press Conference Interpreting Strategies From The Perspective Of The Interpretive Theory

With the improvement of China’s international status and its increasingly frequent participation in international exchanges, more and more press conferences are attended by the leaders of China. This thesis will explain and analyze the interpreting strategies combining with examples from Zhang Lu’s interpreting from2010to2012from the perspective of Interpretive Theory. Meanwhile, it will study the practical significance of the interpretive theory in press conference interpreting.The thesis first introduces the definition and features of the press conference interpreting, as well as requirements for interpreters of PCI and features of Zhang Lu as an interpreter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then it elaborates the origin, development, and main content of interpretive theory and introduces factors affecting press conference interpreting on the basis of Interpretive Theory. On this basis, this thesis summarizes five interpreting strategies in the press conference interpreting by analyzing the examples extracted from Zhang Lu’s interpreting from the perspective of the interpretive theory, which includes information integration, semantic explanation, sentence pattern transformation, cultural transmission, logic processing.In recent years, though the domestic interpreting has achieved rapid development, there is still little research in analysis of the C-E press conference interpreting strategies. Therefore, the author analyzes the examples interpreted by Zhang Lu as an interpreter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the perspective of the interpretive theory to contribute to the development of press conference interpreting.
