Many people think Japanese could be easily studied by Chinese for there are a lot of Chinese characters in Japanese. In fact, although there are many similarities between them, but because of differences in language structure and culture, a very big difference exists even for the same vocabulary or sentence pattern. For example, the vocabulary 「娘」means "daughter" in Japanese, but it means "mother" in Chinese. Both Chinese and Japanese have passive sentences, but the category, definition and usage of this kind of sentence are different. It is these differences that cause a certain degree of interference for a learner, resulting in some wrong usage.Passive sentence is not only important but difficult in Japanese learning and teaching. Learners discover that Japanese and Chinese passive sentences can’t be translated to each other in many cases. Thus we find that the passive sentence is not a single syntactic problem and it may be affected by many non-syntactic factors in practical application. From two aspects of syntax and practical application using comparative analysis and misusage analysis, this paper makes all-around analysis of Japanese passive sentences, to find out the root-cause for misusing.First, by using comparative analysis, this paper contrasts the composing of Chinese and Japanese passive sentences to summarize their respective features, finds their similarities and differences in sentence structure and focuses in the analysis of those differences. Secondly, by using misusage analysis, this paper collects misusage examples in Chinese students’ learning of Japanese passive sentences, classifies those examples, summarizes those misusage types which often occur in practical use and analyzes the reasons. At last, this paper puts forward some suggestions on how to guide students during teaching. I hope that this paper may reduce learners’ mistakes in their learning and using of passive sentences and that this paper may be helpful to Japanese teaching and research in the future.
