Chinese punctuation is the symbol that assists the characters to record language and it is the important factor that affects language expression, especially written language expression. Chinese written expression ability is a part of Chinese communication skills, an expression of comprehensive language skill and also an important content of HSK to check the Chinese level of overseas students. This article has chosen Japanese students in the Intermediate and advanced level as the objects of study. By collecting and sorting150pieces of compositions written by Japanese students in HSK, this paper has analyzed the biased errors of punctuation usage in their compositions and has discussed the causes of these errors and the counterplan for further teaching Chinese for foreign students.Chapter2has conducted a data statistics and analysis on the using quantity and frequency, format biased error quantity and frequency, and function biased error quantity and frequency of Japanese students’Chinese punctuation. Then comparing the most commonly used punctuations by the Japanese students based on data statistics and concluded the same points and different points of Chinese and Japanese punctuation. These conclusions has prepared for the discussion in the following chapter, which is about the causes of biased errors in Chinese punctuation usage during the writing process of Japanese students.Chapter3combined with the examples of punctuation using biased error in the compositions, it has a specific biased error description and analysis from three aspects: formats, written forms, functions and usages, found out the different manifestations patterns and different contexts of various biased errors and explored the nature and rules of Japanese students using punctuation.Chapter4has compared the punctuation using conditions of Japanese students with that of other countries and mother language learners, discovered the generality of using Chinese punctuation among the entire learners from the comparison and found out unique feature of Japanese students using Chinese punctuation:generally, it is close to the using habits of all the learners; the using frequency of full stop is relatively high, the usage rate of comma is relatively low and the usage rate of caesura sign is higher than the learners of other countries and the native learners, with a relatively high biased error rate; the overall level of Chinese punctuation is the same with that of the foreign students at middle and advanced stages, but far lower than that of native learners; the biased errors of written form and format are very centralized and the types and quantities of biased errors are less than that of learners from other countries.Chapter5has analyzed the causes that result in biased error of punctuation using in the writing of Japanese students, including the relevant factors of second language acquisition and external environment factor. Then according to the causes, it has discussed the targeted strategies of teaching Chinese as a second language.Chapter6has concluded the innovation point and the inadequacy of this article.
