A Report On E-C Translation Of Tim Ferriss Show Podcast Script

During his part-time work at Shanghai AEXELE Company,the author was assigned to translate the script of the episode 251 of a podcast show called the Tim Ferriss Show from English to Chinese.Based on the translation,the report analyses the text type and features of the original text,applies theories on subtitling translation,introduces the parallel texts and translation techniques adopted.The report consists of 5 chapters.The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the translation task;the second chapter introduces the text type theory and analyses that the text has the features of both informative and operative texts;the third chapter describes the self-training process the author went through before translation,encompassing understanding the common practices of subtitling translation,including the features,constraints and techniques of subtitling translation with the focus laid on the uniqueness of the source text,and this process also includes the parallel texts the author referred to as well as summaries their features;the fourth chapter,as a case study,dissects the source text from the angles of lexis,syntax and discourse,lists the problems in the translation and the respective translation methods applied in the translation process;the fifth chapter is the conclusion.
