This paper is a translation project report. The original of the translationexcerpts from Children’s Understanding of Death—From Biological to ReligiousConceptions (Chapter One)published by Cambridge University Press.Starting from children’s perspective, the writers explain their understanding ofdeath based on biological conception in Chapter One. The report is divided into fiveparts. First, it describes the background information and the purpose of thistranslation report. Translating this kind of social science article aims to help Chineseadults, psychologists and educators to have better understanding of children’sthoughts about death. Then, the author sorts out such difficult points as translation ofsubtitles, Malagasies and some long sentences and presents related strategies andmethods to meet the needs of fidelity. In particular, the translation strategies includethe extension of word meaning, reversing and synchronizing methods used insentence translation and etc. Finally, the author summarizes the translation reportwith some difficulties unsolved. |
