The text which the author chooses to translate is the preface and Chapter4of Part2of Travels of Bollywood Cinema:From Bombay to LA written by an Indian scholar Anjali Gera Roy and a Singaporean scholar Chua Beng Huat. Many long sentences can be seen in the original text, which makes up the main difficulty in translating. Due to that, this paper analyzes translating methods of long sentences. The main research question is translating methods of long sentences. Before discussing about that, the definition of length and the process of translating long sentences are discussed.The research method adopted in this paper is case study. The author collects long sentences as examples and then analyzes translating methods of long sentences respectively based on translating methods proposed by Liu Miqing and his thought on translating process.Through analysis, the paper concludes that translating methods proposed by Liu Miqing can be adopted in translating long sentences in this translation practice and similar texts. But the author finds that "Cutting" and "Splitting-off" proposed by Liu Miqing can be supplemented based on translating the original text.
