The Translating Methods Of English Long Sentences In The Americanization Of Eward Bok

The text that the author chooses to translate is Chapters One to Five of The Americanization of Bok written by Edward Bok.There are many long sentences of complex grammar and structure in the book,which correspondingly bring about many translation difficulties.The report mainly explores the translation skills of English long sentences based on the analysis of its structural features and translation experiences of the author,which is good for the further study of other translators.The main body of the report is case study.The author analyzed a few typical long sentences as examples through adopting some common translating methods of long sentences.Based on the main types of English long sentences appeared in the text,five translation methods,including embedding,cutting,splitting off,reversing,recasting,proposed by Liu Miqing,and sequential method proposed by Zhang Peiji were chosen.It is conducive to make the translation more idiomatic in the target language in the premise of satisfying the faithfulness.
