This thesis takes Susan Bassnett’s Cultural Translation Theory as theoreticalguidance and was completed on the basis of translating “Heart of the Dragon”,adocumentary taken from Wild China produced by the BBC.The thesis consists of four parts: task description, task process, case study andconclusion. In the task description, the author introduces related backgroundinformation and the features of this selected material. In the second part, the taskprocess, it shows the process of interpreting and preparation of materials. The authorattaches great importance to the case study to show the differences between Englishand Chinese. In order to meet the custom and style of Chinese expressions, the authorfirst introduces Susan Bassnett’s Cultural Translation Theory and its dual meanings,then applies Domestication translating method to illustrate how to realize theconversion of source language to target language through a serious of translationtechniques.Finally, this thesis concludes that Domestication strategies would help sourcelanguage readers to understand more easily and quickly as the time in Interpreting islimited.
