In recent years, research on job stress and job burnout has become a hot topic at home and abroad. With the deepening of reform, the high-speed economic and social development, in particular, the arrival of the new period, the Party and the people put forward higher requests and hope on the police work. Due to its professional characteristics and work under tremendous job stress, the police officer is considered as a high-risk population of job burnout. Job burnout will not only reduce the work efficiency, causing family conflicts, but also affecting the public security work in the new period, and more worse, destroying the image of the police. Therefore, the research of job stress and job burnout of police is very meaningful. In domestic, most scholars used questionnaires and statistical analysis to study the police job stress and job burnout, and the scope of study is mostly concentrated on grassroots police. So far the investigation of authority police has not yet been found. This thesis was based on the research of previous literatures, and meanwhile has hold a lot of in-depth interviews.17ordinary police from "A" city’s Public Security Bureau were chosen to be the subjects of the study. By utilizing methods of interview and observation to explore the background and the cause of police job stress and job burnout. Through the above means, we hope that the essay will provide the necessary references to ease police job stress and job burnout, and meanwhile, enhance the efficiency of public security work.Through interviews and the observation of17ordinary police, the following conclusions could be drawn:1. Working stress markedly prevailed among ordinary city bureau police in A city.2. There was obviously distinction for feeling of work stress between police of different gender and seniority stages.3. Analysis of working pressure source has found that work stress factors can generally be divided into organizational factors and individual factors. Organizational factors can be divided into six groups:the nature of the work, salary, career development, leadership factors, interpersonal factors, institutional reform factors; individual factors can be divided into the following three categorizes:individual expectations, personality variables, demographic factors.4. Job burnout was obvious among ordinary city bureau police in A city, the vast majority of respondents claimed to suffer from job burnout o.5. Feelings of job burnout were obviously different between different seniority stages, different genders and different degrees of police.6. Analysis to job bumout source concluded that factors leading to burnout could be generally divided into individual factors, occupational factors, and organizational factors. The organizational factors could be further divided into leadership qualities, promotion system, salary system, examination system, the bureaucracy and the complexity of human relationships; occupational factors can be divided into working pressure, job autonomy, job content; meanwhile, individual factors can be further divided into two groups, that was demographic variables, individual characteristics.Finally, combined with the analysis and the actual situation of police in A city, this study have targeted proposing solution to ease the work stress and job bumout of authority police from the organizational level and the individual level.
