Recently, Police officer issue is becoming a hot research question, and police officer’s job stress is more important. As one of a stress-intensive occupation, police officers stay in a high-pressure work environment, in the long term and trigger a lot of work, family and physical and psychological health problems. Based on the recent researches, this study use a sample of495police officers from Wuhan to develop the job stress scale and career identity scale, and discuss the effect of job stress on job burnout and its influencing mechanism. Specific studies are as follows.Study one, job stress scale developed. The forecasting research uses a sample of253police officers from Wuhan to find that job stress scale has a clear five-dimensions structure, the subscales are work load, organizational justice, work-family conflict, work crisis and social environment, the scale has a good reliability and validity. In the formal testing, theacoefficients of the subscales are0.86,0.88,0.80,0.64and0.80, and the total scale is0.93. The scale also has a good validityStudy two, career identity scale developed. Also, The forecasting research uses a sample of253police officers from to find that career identity scale has a clear two-dimensions structure, the subscales are career value identity and career status identity, the scale has a good reliability and validity. In the formal testing, theacoefficients of the subscales are0.73and0.72, and the total scale is0.79. The scale also has a good validity.Study three, discussing the influencing mechanism of job stress on job burnout. This study finds that the effect of police officers’ job stress on job burnout is significant. Specifically, job stress can positively and significantly affect emotional exhaustion and deindividuation, and negatively affect low efficiency; Resilience partially mediates the effect of job stress on deindividuation and does not mediate the effect of job stress on emotional exhaustion and low efficiency; Police officers career identity moderates the influence of job stress on job burnout. Specifically, on the low career identity condition, the influence of job stress on emotional exhaustion is more significant than the high career identity condition and career identity does not moderate the influence of job stress on deindividuation and low efficiency.
