We are living in a colorful world full of colors. No matter what ethnicity we are and what culture we are in, we are inseparable from color. There is no great difference in human’s visual perception towards color, and color words also exist in various languages in the world, but language is the product of culture, color words are closely related to cultural characteristics of different ethnicities. Because of color preference, different ethnicities have inconsistent division of color, leading to different expression and use of color words. As teachers who teach Chinese as a foreign language, we have the obligation to probe into an effective teaching method of color words."No fixed rules for learning and teaching". Based on previous research achievements in color words of modern Chinese language, we should explore a more effective method to be applied to teaching Chinese as a foreign language. From the perspective of classification teaching, the paper attempts to gather color words together and explores teaching method of Chinese color words in cross-culture from angles of Chinese character, vocabulary and grammar. In the meantime, through manner of questionnaire, the author makes a survey of similarities and differences between color culture in the South Korea and Philippines and color culture in China, and their situation of grasping Chinese color words in the process of learning Chinese, aiming to look for mistakes and difficulties when foreigners learning Chinese.The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the general situation of color words in Chinese as a foreign language. Through comparison of color words in Syllabus of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and "HSK Dynamic Composition Library" and situation of color-related words, it interprets the importance of teaching of color words. Learning of plenty of color-related words in Chinese as a foreign language takes grasping of color words as the basis; the second chapter makes in-depth analysis from angles of Chinese character, vocabulary and grammar and has offered theoretical foundation for vocabulary teaching; the third chapter is the part of questionnaire. It analyzes the difference among the South Korea, Philippines and China in color culture; the fourth chapter is the exploration of teaching method of color words in Chinese as a foreign language, and all the researches aim to better exploit an effective teaching method.
