Then the course of contact between the two parties isdescribed by being divided into three periods, namely, from1949to1970s, from1970s to late1990s, from late1990s to2012, with holding of the third plenary sessionof the eleventh central committee of CCP and Hong Kong’s returning to China asmarking events.Next, the contact is discussed in details. In terms of form, the contact includeshigh-level mutual visit, annual meeting and China forum, Chinese and British youthstatesmen forum, symposiums, lectures and informal discussions. In terms ofcharacteristics, the contact is diverse, continual, and punctual; it is systematic;mechanisms have been established. Then, the influencing factors of contact between the two parties are analyzed, which are, international situation, national foreign strategy, economic interests, andparty interests.
