The labor union plays a role of bridge between the Party and workers and therepresentative of each class’ lawful rights. Since the Third Plenary Session of the11thCentral Committee, with the gradual deepening of reform and opening-up, the laborunion plays an increasing vital role as a strong social power, in the maintenance of thelegitimate rights and interests of workers as well as the coordination of labor relations,social order and build a harmonious society.The labor union of colleges and universities is the one existing widely in campusand aimed to protect the workers’ lawful right and profits. It is also important to theharmony of the campus.However,the new challenges brought about by the reform of theuniversity should be emphasized. For example, the selection mechanism of universitytrade union and the trade union rights protection mechanism are not so perfect. In recentyears, the object of the labor union extended to the hired workers, which arose thetransform of the working field and methods. In order to support the trade unions incolleges and universities to accomplish the goals and complete the tasks more effectivelyand efficiently in the political and economic background, this master’s thesis focuses onthe Songjiang University Town to analysis the phenomenon and try to find out the causesand put forward the reasonable methods.The thesis contains5chapters.The first one is introduction, mainly introducing thepurpose and significance of this topic,as well as the research situation domesticly andabroad.Chapter2mainly defines the trade union and the part3describes the developmentof labor union in Songjiang University Town,including the relationship between tradeunions and the government.The forth chapter aims at the problems and the possiblecauses.The last part put forward the suggestions to improve the labor union inuniversities.
