Investigaton On Tutorial System Of Undergraduate Based On Requirements From Students

Tutorial system of undergraduate is a persinnel training modelfocuses on the individuation and comprehensive harmonious development ofstudents. Tutorial system of undergraduate aims to provide studetns withideological guidance, study couseling, life direction and psychologicalcounseling as the goal in the process of regular mutual communication anddiscussion by providing learned and noble teachers specifically forindividuals or groups. Tutorial system of undergraduate is benificialsupplement of parallel management model under the credit system, full timeteaching from teachers combined with tutorial from ideological andpolitical educator.In the transition period from elite to mass of higher education inour country, how to fit for ear development, to improve the comprehensivequality of college students, to cultivate students’ innovation andcritial consciousness, to enhance practical ability and cooperation andcommunication ability of college students, and to strengthen collegestudents’ employment competition ability have become big problems to besolved in higher education. As a result, the tutorial system forundergraduate education has become the inevitable requirement of eradevelopment. Tutorial system of undergraduate is helpful for students tobuild a reasonable knowledge structure and enhance the comprehensivequality; is beneficial for teaching students according to their aptitude,cultivation of innovative talents, improvment of employmentcompetitiveness as well as teaching and learning promote each other;finally is onducive to the implementation of credit system and promotionof the reform of classroom teaching.Tutorial system of undergraduate in College of J was studied in thispaper. Through the investigation and analysis, overall situation oftutorial system of undergraduate in College of J is fine, studentsespecially freshman and sophomore have strong demand for tutorial system.In terms of demand for teacher, when the students choose the tutor, themost important characteristics focus on the sense of responsibility, moral character and the behavior of tutor, student’s demand for tutorsinvolved thought, job, study, psychology, life, etc. Freshmen often eagerto get the guidance of tutor, the vast majority of students hope to getteacher’s individual guidance in the regular classroom.On the basis of comparative analysis on present situation and thedemand of tutorial system of undergraduate in College of J, it can beconcluded that there exists contradiction between finiteness ofimplementation system and intense requirement of students especially thelower grade students. The reasons for this phenomenon are:(1) the ratioof students to faculty is extremely high, tutors are extremelyinsufficient;(2)tutors do not preform their responsibilities fully;(3)students’ requirement is extensive but their level of consciousnessis not relatively high.For couples of contradictions mentioned above, this paper tries toput forward some countermeasures and suggestions as follows:(1)qualification of tutor should be lowered appropriately to release theinsufficient tutors. Therefore, specific conditions for taking uppositions for the tutors should be lowered, university should provideteaching assistance for every tutor and establish working team of tutorsfor undergraduate and finally, stiff fixed collocation of teachers andstudents should be reformed and establish flexible teaching-learningrelationship;(2) establish the center position of undergraduate talentscultivation firmly.(3) To strengthen the construction of ethics.(4) Ona regular basis to strengthen training, clarify the responsibilities ofundergraduate tutorial system and the division of labor.(5)universityshould establish the important position of undergraduate education andraise the treatment for tutors;(6) university should establishcompulsory system for tutorial system of undergraduate.
