On The Training Demands Of New Generation Of Migrant Workers

Migrant workers refer to the labor forces that work in the cities but have therural identities. Since the1980s, there are more and more migrant workers under thepolicy of reform and opening-up as well as the adjustment of relevant polices. Afterentering the new century, the replacement of migrant workers has taken place, with aresult that new generation of them has been in the stage of the history and the mainforce of migrant workers and industrial workers in our country. Their ability ofcompetence and skills relate to both their own survival and our country’s economicdevelopment and social stability. At present, one of the effective path to enhance thequality and skills level of the new generation of migrant workers is to carry outtargeted training,in this respect,we must start from the analysis of the trainingdemands of the new generation of migrant workers.This research is part of a key one of Ministry of Education, leading by ourhonored professor Zhao. To better understand the training demands of the newgeneration of migrant workers, the research group has designed a questionnairenamed A Questionnaire on Vocational Training Status of New generation of MigrantWorkers. Using the opportunity of nationwide Spring Festival,13061pieces ofeffective questionnaire has been handed in. According to the necessity of this research,2579pieces of questionnaire are selected as samples to be analyzed by the tool ofExcel and statistical software SPSS17.0.Through a series of analysis, the new generation of migrant workers paid muchattention to the practical and on-the-spot training in the effective and formal traininginstitutions. Additionally, they are pleased to gain a short-term training in their sparetime with the least expanse. Further study showed that due to the individualcharacteristics, there are differences about their training demands. What’s more,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the government, enterprises and generation of migrant workers at three levels to meet their training demands.
