Education is related to national prosperity, well-being of the people and the country’s future. Education as an important subsystem of society, its function has long been approved all over the world. But in China, the slogan "Education is the foundation of the long-term goal" is more familiar to people. Since ancient times, China is a large agricultural country. The rural population account for the vast majority of population, so the development of rural education is the fundamental of the wealthy and powerful. As an important part of rural education, basic education in rural areas is an important way to change the situation of rural development lag and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas, and its benign development plays a decisive role to promote the construction of a new socialist countryside and the realization of rural modernization. Basic education in rural areas is related to the harmonious development of the economy and society as a whole. Primary education is the initial stage of basic education, it is also the foundation of basic education. Primary education is elementary education of young children, occupies a very important position in the whole education system.The understanding of the basic education, is the consensus reached since the start of the process of modernization in the human society, no society question the importance of basic education now. However, how does the basic education play an important role in the process of modernization of a society? With time passed, what changes do the rural primary school and rural communities have? How do the changing rural primary and rural communities influence each other? What I want to study and answer is all the issues. This paper takes Wang-Cun primary school as a carrier, doing a historical sociology survey of the relationship between rural grassroots community I once lived and school in it, and trying to reflect on the relationship between education and rural society and the current whereabouts of rural primary school through understanding and knowing the interactive process of changes in rural community and rural primary schools. This study take the time dimension as the basic clues, through the changes of time to discover the facts have occurred, investigate changes in school education and rural community, perspective the evolution of rural education since the founding of New China and show a microscopic picture of educational change. Hoping to enrich people’s awareness and imagination of rural education, as well as insight into many new awareness and ideas, so that they will do good to resolve the current problems rural primary school faced. One of the shortcomings of this study is that the author hadn’t collect related data to support the text description which influence the paper’s persuasion. In addition, both the theoretical analysis and practical exploration of the study are not meticulous and not comprehensive, which need the author to pay attention to strengthening in the future learning.
