Teacher is the guide of education activity, the teacher’s own professional level and the development level decides the level of education activities and direction.Teachers’ professional development is teachers improve their professional level ofrighteousness, and teachers’ independent professional development is the main way of teacher’s professional development. Teachers in higher vocational colleges is to train applied talents for the education goals,and they how to through the independent development to make their own professional knowledge adapt to the requirements, has become the focus of scholars.In this paper, through the literature review specific the connotation and characteristics of teachers’ independent professional development:teachers’ independent professional development is refers to the personal career, teacher follow the rules of education, respect education value, set up theconcept of lifelong learning, constantly explore self-awareness, make full use of autonomy, by responsibility cognition, theory study and project practice, diligently thinking, bold innovation, to realize comprehensive ability gradually improve and continue to develop process.The characteristics of teachers’ independent professional development summed up in six words: Lord, learning, doing, thought, and Ben. The Lord is emphasized to inner potential, active learning; To learn is to adhere to the concept of lifelong learning and put into practical action; To do is to use practice to test learning effect; Thought is to think and analyze the relation and difference between theory and practice;Ben is to explore a better learning methods and learning content; This is the personalized development of implementation.By designing questionnaires, found higher vocational college teachers’ independent professional development basically has the following main problems:one is lack of teachers’ independent professional development consciousness, two is teachers’ independent professional development groups atmosphere did not form,three is teachers’ independent professional development ability needs to improve, four is the way of teachers’ independent professional development can’t meet the need.The second,combined with survey data show that the autonomous professional development for teachers in higher vocational colleges has carried on the attribution analysis, specific reasons mainly include the following:one is the lack of teachers’ professional ideal, personal goal of confusion; Second, life pressure, teachers’ subjective efforts; Three is a teacher evaluation mechanism is not sound; Four is the lack of necessary environment support.The last, finally from the macro policy, schools, and individual method three aspects put forward the countermeasures to the development of higher vocational college teachers’ independent professional advice, in order to the autonomous professional development of teachers in higher vocational colleges to provide theoretical guidance. Macroeconomic policy, the society as a whole continues to focus on higher vocational college teachers’ independent development; Establish a correct concept of career education. Schools, school atmosphere conducive to teachers’ professional growth; Strengthen the pre-service training, enhance the overall level of attributes; Build a learning team, rich learning content and the form of teachers; Cultivation of "double type" teachers, establish incentive system. Personal approach, correct their professional motivation; Establish professional ideals and struggle; Actively provide professional planning and career development prospects, development plan; Good at using a variety of way to learn, play theadvantages of the network information age.
