The key to ensure the quality of higher vocational education is the quality and team construction of teachers in higher vocational colleges, which is also the important factor to achieve the higher vocational education goal. At present, the problems which we are facing are insufficient total amount, lower degree of specialization and structural shortage. Under this situation, we should take the matter from improving the level of teachers’professional knowledge and teaching innovation ability, the ability to teach knowledge and operate practically and teacher’s vocational accomplishment, thus vigorously strengthen teaching staff construction in higher vocational colleges.According to the questionnaires investigation about the work of higher vocational colleges and the teachers’ professional development in Liaoning province, as well as the accumulation of information in the interview, this paper takes higher vocational colleges in Liaoning province as the research objects, and then deeply investigates the professional development for the teachers by the literature method and the questionnaire. From the investigation, we learn about the main problems of teachers’ professional development in higher vocational colleges, and analyze the causes. Through the analysis, we find the problems existed in teachers’ professional development in higher vocational colleges as follows:first, teachers are vary in the level of teachers’ professional knowledge and the ability to update knowledge; second, there is a little patchy in terms of teachers’ teaching ability, and lack of unified teaching knowledge and skills training; third, teachers need improve the quality of their own self-cultivation, as well as knowledge and character education.Based on the uniqueness of higher vocational education personnel training, this paper analyses the problems and causes of higher vocational teachers’ professional development and raised the following specific suggestions in practical level:First, perfect faculty performance evaluation system and enhance scientific research innovation ability; second, build a scientific courses system and promote the upgrade of teacher’s professional competence; third, pay attention to the connotation construction, excavate the inner motive power of teachers’ personal professional development and improve their quality accomplishment...
