With the development of communication technology, the exchange among countries is more andmore convenient, and the demand that makes people get a better understanding of the world and knowmulticulturalism is also increasing. Culture is the core of literature. As a result, the literary work hasbecome a communication bridge of cultural transmission of each country. Foreign literary works as awindow to show its national culture depict a beautiful picture scroll that reflects social reality andinheritances history. It is of great significance of the aesthetical education and the educational physiologyof human ideology. Moreover it can not only provide students with rich cultural knowledge, but alsoimprove the people’s ability of cognition and aesthetic for world. Among the foreign literary works selectedby senior chinese teaching material, every article shows the social culture, the ideology and behavioralmode to a region, a nation for us. Therefore, we should strengthen the education of foreign literature of thesenior high school stage, and let the students’ idea can roam everywhere and understand the history of othernationalities, social culture while they learn knowledge, so as to broaden horizons, develop the aestheticand perfect personality.This thesis regards the foreign literature teaching selected by the pep edition of chinese textbooksfor high schools as the research object. I discuss it from the following several aspects: the part of theintroduction is about simple discourse of current foreign literature teaching of the high school. It includestwo aspects: teaching materials and teaching. First chapter on the basis of foreign literature teachingrequirements proposed in the new curriculum standard, this thesis discusses that the foreign literatureteaching of the current senior chinese can widen the students’ horizon, complete their knowledge structure,and cultivate students’ aesthetic ability and improve students’ humanistic quality. In the chapter two, foreignliterary works in chinese textbooks for high schools are summarized. It analyzes the selected number offoreign literary works, concrete contents, layout and the work of nationality, genre, theme, etc. In thechapter three, it points out some problems of the foreign literature teaching in three aspects: teaching andstudent learning. The fourth chapter discusses some teaching strategies of foreign literary works of seniorchinese put forward by the author. They requires teachers to set up the correct teaching idea, arouse students’ enthusiasm for learning, extend the students’ reading scope for foreign literary works andinnovative teaching methods.
