Life Dilemma And Choice Of Immigrants In Shanty Towns

Since China’s reform and opening up, China’s urbanization process is on. Since the1990s, shanty town which locating in the center of Harbin is one of the characteristicsof urbanization development. Most of these shanty towns built in before liberation andearly liberation. In addition to the few residents still live here, the majority of occupantsare immigrants in the shanty towns. Here has become the most important places forthese immigrants after entering the city.In order to observe the life in shanty towns, this article takes Harbin H community asthe research case. And rendered the daily life in H community, especially difficultiesexperienced by immigrants in the city, and they make different choices in their life. Thisstudy adopted the fieldwork and unstructured interviews research methods. After manytimes interview work, this study become clear the path and journey of the immigrants inH community, and attempt to descripe all aspects of the H community, discover someunknown details hidden under the normal life. Especially in this study, as the outsidersin H community needs to face reality in life. Including the living dilemma, identitydilemma and development dilemma. At the same time the study discusses the outsidersin demolition events before and after the choice of the future life. The author has visitedthe H community many times, gradually make clear the migration journey in Hcommunity. Try to describe all aspects of life in community, discovering someunknown details hidden under the normal life. Trying to explore the process ofurbanization transformation and how to treat a city of immigrants and shanty towns.Discussing the importance of urban shanty towns for immigrants, and reflect on themodern urban renewal theory where to go in the future.Therefore, this study always think shanty towns problems is worthy to be attentionin the process of urban development. But for immigrants who living in shanty towns,the urban shanty towns is valuable and meaningful, even provides the possibility ofdevelopment in the city.
