The rapid development of science and technology makes the social demand for talentstype and talent quality have higher requirements. Now the knowledge economy era of the bigbang pressing needs high-quality innovative talents, however, the traditional teaching cannotmeet the needs of current social development. In order to cultivate modern talents with highquality to fit the needs of social development, colleges and universities must carry out teachingreform. The implementation of innovative spirit and practice ability as the key point of qualityeducation, help students form positive explore consciousness. And research-oriented teaching isa teaching model which shows a modern teaching concept. The value pursuit ofresearch-oriented teaching is based on students’ development. Research-oriented teaching isopen and the answer also has the characteristic of non-standard. Research-oriented teachingrequirements both teachers and students can integrated use knowledge, at the same time, it alsoencourages students to cooperative learning. Research-oriented teaching not only reflects, butalso responds to the requirements of the times for education.This paper focusing on the characteristics of shot put teaching and hurdle races teaching forphysical education major, combing with the characteristics of research-oriented teaching,carried out an experimental study of research-oriented teaching in the shot put teaching andhurdle races teaching of physical education major, to investigate the impact of research-orientedteaching to class relations and the class atmosphere, to discuss the impact of theresearch-oriented teaching to students’ classroom performance, skill mastery, ability and interestof learning the track and field technique, etc. using literature reviews, expert interviews,teaching experiment, questionnaire surveys, mathematical statistics and so on. The teachingexperiment results shows that the implementation of research-oriented teaching in track andfield technique course in physical education major, not only can ensure the smooth completionof the teaching task, but also can effectively improve the quality and effect of teaching.Research-oriented teaching is worth popularizing in track and field technique course of collegesand universities’ physical education major; by creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in theclassroom for students, it can effectively cultivate students’ helping each other and mutualcooperation spirit; it can cultivate and improve the students’ ability in many aspects, it is helpful for the overall development of students; the implementation of research-oriented teaching intrack and field technique course of physical education major, can effectively improve thestudents’ learning interest in track and field technique.Based on these conclusions, put forward the following main suggestions:1. Every coin has two sides, so in the promotion and popularization of research-orientedteaching method must deal with the relationship between inheritance and development.2. When using the research-oriented teaching method, to give full play to the guiding roleof the teacher, the teacher’s guidance combined with the main body of students.3. In carrying out research-oriented teaching, must carry out professional training forteachers.
