With the development of global economy, we have attached muchmore importance to English teaching. A prerequisite for the talents in China to bepresent on the world stage is their ability to communicate in English. However,English teaching in the middle schools in China is encountered with such problems astest-oriented teaching mode and inactive learning attitude, which lead to the situationof Dumb English. The author has studied a great deal of Chinese and foreigndocuments, researched into the current situation of flipped class room, and combinedthe middle school teaching conditions in China. Finally, the author proposed that theflipped classroom model applied to English teaching will help middle school studentsimprove their English skills.To verify the above assumption, the author has done questionnaire survey andobservation with regard to English skill and learning attitude, using an experimentalclass from A middle school as the teaching object. Meanwhile, the author designedand developed a short-term English course in the mode of flipped classroom based onthe students’ characteristics, and then put the course into practice. The author has beenimproving course design during the implementation process of flipped class throughteaching practices. By this, the author aims at promoting the application of flippedclassroom model in middle school English teaching.
