The all-around basic education curriculum reform in our country started from the year2001. As is clearly mentioned in the Outlines of the Basic Education Course Reform (trialversion), it is quite necessary to develop and utilize various curriculum resources both atschool and out of school; The Standard of History Course for Senior High School(Experimental) also points out:“… encourage different regions and schools to utilize anddevelop the history curriculum resources according to their own actual situation”. With a longhistory, Qingdao is a famous city of historical and cultural interest in our country, so it isquite rich in local history curriculum resources. This article, which takes the history ofQingdao area for an example, is mainly about the development and utilization of local historyresources in the teaching of the history course.The whole article consists of seven parts: The introduction part mainly elaborates thebackground of the article and the present situation about the development and utilization ofthe local history curriculum resources in history teaching both at home and abroad. The firstchapter mainly defines the concepts of local history resources, the history curriculumresources and Qingdao local history curriculum resources. Qingdao local history curriculumresources refer to all the factors in Qingdao area which are of great help to the daily historyteaching. The second chapter expounds the value and significance of the development andutilization of the local history curriculum resources, which are beneficial to arouse thestudents’ interest in learning history, to supplement the insufficiency of the history textbooks,to form the students’ learning method of independent inquiry, to cultivate students’ emotionand love towards their hometown and their motherland, and to promote the inheriting of thelocal historical and cultural heritage. The third chapter mainly introduces the content of thelocal history curriculum resources in Qingdao area from the aspects of historical sites,historical relics, old residence of famous people in Qingdao history, museums, archives,exhibition hall, library, historical buildings, old streets, etc. and also analyzes thecharacteristics of Qingdao area, which is famous for its long history and its abundant rarelocal history resources. The fourth chapter mainly investigates the present status of the development and utilization of the Qingdao local history curriculum resources, exposing thecurrent problems during the process of the development and utilization and its reasons. Thefifth chapter expounds the principles and the methods of developing and utilizing Qingdaolocal history curriculum resources. The basic principles mainly includes the scientificprinciple, the economic and practical principle, the cooperation and sharing principle and theprinciple of adjusting measures to local conditions. The methods mainly includes the researchon Qingdao local history resources, the enrichment of the current history courses, the fullutilization of learning method of investigation, the start-up of Qingdao local history courses,the utilization of school history and school history exhibition hall, the utilization of historycourse clubs and interest groups, etc. The sixth chapter mainly puts forward some suggestionsfor further perfecting the Qingdao local history curriculum resources: to strengthen historyteachers’ theory of reform, to promote the training and communication of local historyknowledge, to strive for the support and cooperation of families and the whole society, and toproperly deal with several relationships.
