Implementation of strengthening talent on a basis of the talent-oriented strategy and accelerating the construction of high-quality teachers is one of the important issues of universities in order to adapt to the development of the research-oriented university. The young teachers, as an important reserve force of teaching and research as well as a force for sustainable development, are especially important for the construction of high-quality university.The study of young college teachers’ performance appraisal system is a not only theoretical but also a practical research topic of significance. In this paper, the performance appraisal system of research-oriented university was conducted in-depth research, on a basis of literature analysis, questionnaires, statistical analysis, case studies, and other methods, according to the characteristics of young teachers and growth law of talent. And the specific situation of young teachers in Dalian University of Technology was performed with a systematic analysis. Furthermore, the assessment index system and index system of weights were redesigned. Performance appraisal index weights and teaching and research work were calculated in a quantitative way, which provides useful information and help for the development of young teacher performance appraisal system.This thesis primarily includes four sections. The background, significance and investigation purpose are introduced briefly in the first part. In second part the function of performance appraisal, principles and significance are discussed on a basis of the theory of performance appraisal. And the features and contents of young teachers’ work in university are also analyzed. The current situation of young teachers in Dalian University of Technology is investigated and analyzed in the third part. Moreover, based on the existing performance appraisal index system, by considering young teacher performance appraisal, the configuration index of young teacher performance appraisal system is proposed. Four weighting system construction methods are compared in the foutth part. The weight of young teacher performance appraisal system is constructed with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is then verified through the evaluation of instances. A summary and prospects of this article are made in the final, where follow-up work on the basic assumptions is carried out too.
