"The hope of vitalizing a nation lies in education; the hope of vitalizing education lies in teachers." To improve the international competitiveness, counties in the world are positively promoting the specialization of teachers. It is inevitable that world countries’ close attention to the specialization development of teachers will cause the integration of teachers’education. The disjunction and separation of stages and aspects of teachers’ education and the failure of the integration are the main reasons which affect the professional quality of teachers. Besides, under the influences of the information age and the tendency of the learning society, the one-time education of teachers is fat from meeting the requirement of the social development. Normal university students are the main sources for future teachers, their pre-service education is the starting point for the professional development of teachers. The quality of cultivation will directly affect the professional level of teachers and the education quality of the whole country, and thus affect the international competitiveness of a country. Therefore, the pre-service cultivation of normal university students is extremely important.With the continuous development of multimedia and network technology, the development of education informatization also goes deeper. Various information technologies are used to the field of education. In the mean time, changed in learning methods and assessment methods caused for new technologies also covers each fields of education, including the professional development of teachers. The electronic portfolio generates in the network environment becomes a power tool which is able to support the life-long learning and professional development of normal university students through its rich connotation and advantages. Up to now, researches on existing electronic portfolio are mainly focused on e-portfolio for primary and middle school students. There are few researches on e-portfolio of normal university students. And researches on e-portfolio of normal university students are also not deep enough. There are fewer researches on e-portfolio of normal university students in allusion to the integration of pre-service education and after-service cultivation. Therefore, the paper selected this topic and had researches as below:In the first place, the author consulted a lot of Chinese and foreign literatures relevant to electronic portfolio, professional development of teachers and the integration of teacher’s education, tracked several accessible electronic portfolio systems, analyzed connotations and functions of the electronic portfolio in the literature review, elaborated current situations of research and application of the electronic portfolio at home and abroad, and analyzed features of existing electronic portfolio systems with the hope of being referred in this system. In the next place, it analyzed theoretic bases for this research through literature research. These bases include theories for professional development of teachers, theories for knowledge management, theories for reflective thinking etc. In the third place, through literature research and content analysis, the paper analyzed the demand for electronic portfolio for normal university students which support the integration of the teachers’education in detail. In the last place, the paper discussed the development environment and key application technologies of the system.
