| With the arrival of science and technology revolution and the third industrial revolution, the existed training pattern of professionals could no longer keep pace with the current society’s requirement on high quality professionals and top-notch innovative personnel. Thus how to perfect the talent-training pattern, how to enhance the quality of talents and how to improve the quality of higher education have caused the attention of the country, society, colleges and universities. As a breakthrough of the traditional classroom instruction system, undergraduate tutorial system, which meets the increasing demand of the time and society on high-quality professionals and top-notch innovative personnel, is an innovation of undergraduate education mechanism and a significant measure taken to improve the education quality. On the basis of a two-way choice between teachers and students, tutors with profound academic knowledge and sound characters could make individualized plans, implement individualized education and guide students on their study, life, thought, and mentality, according to different students’ interests, hobbies and professional foundations. The aim of this system is to fully tap students’ potentials, train top talents and innovative personnel, and build a scientific and practical education system.This article comprises four parts. This first part analyzes the tutorial system from the theoretical level, defines relevant concepts and expounds the origin, development and characteristics of tutorial system. In the second part, an intensive study is conducted on the specific operating mechanism, current status and existing problems of excellent students’ tutorial system in H University. The third part explores the reasons which caused the problems in excellent students’ tutorial system, including the evaluation mechanism and management system of tutorial system, tutors’ responsibility and students’subjective initiative. The last part raises countermeasures to the problems occurred in the operation of excellent students’ tutorial system, mainly from three aspects-college (or university), tutors and students. As to the college (or university), it should give full play to its function of overall planning and coordination. To the tutors, they should establish the correct conception of teaching. At last, the students should promote their ideas of how to be human beings, how to succeed and how to be top talents, to provide valuable consideration for universities and colleges implementing undergraduate tutorial system.In the practical implementation, undergraduate tutorial system is also confronted with various kinds of challenges. To overcome these challenges and promote the reform of talent-training system, reforms in the following three aspects are essential. First of all, the education organizing form should be innovated by breaking the fixed traditional pattern of class teaching system and adopting long-distance, individualized and dispersive education form. Secondly, methods and means of teaching should be reformed. The future education should adhere to the student-centered principle, and fully exploit the network technique, cloud computing, clouds computing based education, and large datagram. Last but not least, an innovative education evaluation system is also indispensable in the reform. In this regard, a onefold test evaluation method should be broken and developed to incentive evaluation and process evaluation. |
