In the end of1970s and the early of1980s, China began to carry out the reform and opening up and established special economic zones in coastal areas. For one thing, It caused the influx of foreign capital and the factories producing primary products as the spring rain, therefore, they need a large number of primary labor force to be engaged in production; for another thing, the central and western poverty region has hundreds of millions of surplus labor force. This is the move of labor force created external condition.In recent years, with China’s rapid economic development, rural surplus labor into cities and towns has presented a rapidly rising tend, a large number of underage children were at home, resulting in a new special groups of children---left-behind children, and the number of this group is also increasing, it has become a common social phenomenon. According to statistics, there are over20million children left behind in the rural areas of our country。Although some left-behind children have good development, there is also a considerable portion of left-behind children with different kinds of problems, some problems have become quite severe, this should cause the academia, society especially the government’s attention. The author had ever been a teacher in an economically backward areas of the township school for twelve years, witnessing the left-behind children’s various changes, they had a lot of problems not only in the physical aspects but also in learning performance, mental health, the lack of a sense of security and so on, thus considerable part of the left-behind children were often late, absent, they often fought, smoked, dropped out, their behavior has undergone a great deviation, what’s more, some left-behind children hurt even turned to crime. And this part of left-behind children also will be the future of our motherland and the hope of the nation. If we do not promptly and properly solve the education problem of left-behind children today, this group of children will inevitably affect the development of the motherland and the improvement of the quality of the Chinese people in ten or twenty years, this will lead to the damage of our country’s sustainable development.The main subject of this paper is about the education problem of rural left-behind children in poor area, analyzing the mental problems and the characteristics of life of rural left-behind children. The author first analyzed the related research background and the research present situation of rural left-behind children, elaborated the existing problems of the transfer of rural labor force in rural education and the reasons for the problems according to the advantages and disadvantages of rural labor’s transference in rural education.In this paper, the thinking of research is in-depth analysis of the reasons caused the education problems of the left-behind children based on the investigation and statistics of the current situation of rural left-behind children. Then makes a summarization in four aspects:the system, family education, school education and social support respectively.This paper studies the rural left-behind children’s education problem in poor area by the sampling investigate of a specific region, statistics, analysis, the random individual interview of the rural left-behind children in poor areas, group interviews, some typical cases of tracking, carrying on the contrast analysis, questionnaire of the students’ achievement in recent ten years in some schools.The focus of this paper is to carry on the analysis of the present situation of the rural left-behind children, find out the remaining problems of the left-behind children, and compare with the educational status of the eastern developed area of China, point out the solution to the problem of left-behind children and some policy suggestions.In this paper, the author has encountered the following difficulties during the study:1. design investigation of actual questionnaire of the left-behind children in poor area;2. determine the survey objects.In order to solve the above problems, the author went to a small village of Town Mingyue, Jiulong village of Town Huisui in Pengxi County, Suining City, Sichuan Province carried out preliminary investigation, knew the real local situation of the left-behind children by my former students, benefited by mutual discussion, designed three sets of interaction supplementary questionnaire. The author also personally went o to County Pengxi of Suining in addition to launching students from poor areas to investigate the town middle and primary school, collected the list of the left-behind children whose parents had been out-migrant for work and sorted by their age, randomly selected the object of investigation, and focused on the questionnaire.Through the research, the author found that the left-behind children in poor areas had some universal and serious problems:the left-behind children were mostly introverted, did not like dealing with people; they were lazy in study, had poor grades; developed bad habits and behavior; some children were hurt, some violated the law. From this the author gets the inspiration:Left-behind Children’s problem is not only the schools’ problems and the families’ problems but also it is the government’s problems, social problems.Through the analysis, the author puts forward several proposals of strengthening and improving the education problems of the left-behind children, points out that strengthening the governmental supervision and management as well as the family education should run parallel.The final conclusion is:1. strengthen rural left-behind children’s mental health education;2. the national and social all circles takes seriously strict attention to this issue, the government increases the impoverished area investment in education to change the poor situation of left-behind children;3. strengthen legislation to guarantee the basic rights of left-behind children;4. strengthen the supervision of the school;5. parents should also pay attention to the education of children. It needs cooperation in the above respects in this process so as to ensure the healthy growth of the next generation, and to provide a guarantee for the rapid development of economy of our country.
