With the rapid economic development in China and the increasing need of technical talents, private vocational colleges have sprung up as an important part of higher vocational education. It is estimated that there are348private vocational colleges throughout the country, among which25colleges are in Jiangsu Province. Exploring the reform and development continuously, these colleges have been gradually recognized by the community, trained a lot of skilled professionals for Jiangsu Province and the country, and played a significant role in promoting economic development in our nation.Based on previous researches, this thesis combines theoretical studies with survey. Firstly, common problems of human resource development and management of teachers in private vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province are summarized in terms of characteristics of private vocational colleges in combination with some theories of human resources. Secondly, factors affecting human resource development and management of teachers in Zhongshan Vocational College are analyzed, mainly reflected in composition of teachers, concept of humanistic management, brain gain system, talent cultivation mechanism, and teacher management system and compensation package. Finally, some specific suggestions are raised for strengthening human resource development and management in private vocational colleges by means of investigation and analysis.As for the research into human resource development and management in colleges and universities, few people made studies for private colleges. The research conducted in this paper makes up for gaps in this field to some extent, in which the innovation of this paper lies. Furthermore, this study has realistic impact and value, for it addresses the problems with human resource development and management of teachers in private vocational colleges, and the suggestions made are very practical as well.
