With the development of economy and society, the social requirementspecification for tourism professional talents is highly increased. Not only requires thenumber of talents, but also the quality of talents, which puts forward higherrequirement to the graduates of tourism management. It is necessary to have a solidprofessional knowledge as well as to have a strong capacity for innovation andpractical ability. In order to accomplish this goal, the universities which have themajor of tourism management should have a high quality, strong practical teachers’team. But in reality, undergraduate teachers of tourism management are affected byvarious factors, which makes their ability of professional practice weak, meanwhile,unable to train graduates meeting the development needs of tourism industry, and alsoimpact the education vitality of tourism education. In this context, how to improve theprofessional practical ability of the tourism management undergraduate teachersbecomes the very focus on the construction of teachers’ team.Firstly, this paper described the background, the significance of the topic,research details and research methods, and analyzed the latest successful researchresults of training the practical ability of teachers of domestic universities, andmethods how overseas universities do to enhance teachers’ professional practice.Secondly, differentiated and analyzed the basic concept of the content, type, andthe theoretical basis of teachers’ professional practical ability, especially defined thetypes of promotion, which suits tourism teachers’ professional practical ability,meanwhile, discussed the necessity and feasibility of the ability of tourismmanagement undergraduate teachers to enhance professional practice.Thirdly, conducted a survey to undergraduate teachers of part of the universitieswhich have the major of Tourism Management in Liaoning Province, using factoranalysis and doing the empirical research on which affected tourism managementundergraduate teachers’ professional practical ability, analyzing the current situationof enhancing the ability of professional practice. According to the opinion of torismexperts, built the evaluation to promote the teachers’ professional practical ability, and using the analytic hierarchy process analyzed the importance of each evaluations,which not only provides references for the construction of tourism managementundergraduate teacher professional practical scientific and reasonable evaluationsystem, but also provides the basis of those suggestions.Finally, the paper presents the concept of education reform; building a soundpractical teaching system; reforming the teachers’ evaluation system; integratingproducing, studying and researching together, seeking support from the government.At the same time, seeking the way to improve tourism management undergraduateteachers’ professional practical ability from ideology, teaching, management, systemand base, cultivating undergraduate talents with high quality, in order to adapt to thedevelopment of tourism industry, providing references for the development andreform of the tourism education.
