Currently, the overall employment situation for the postgraduates in China is poor, and the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents" have suffered many difficulties in choosing occupations. Thus, through the investigation of the employment outlook for the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talent", the current situation of their employment and some arising problems can be recognized and corresponding solutions can also be further put forward to help them adjust their career goals. Furthermore, by studying the employment outlook for the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents", this paper can not only locate some general problems for the postgraduates in their employment concepts but also can assist in improving the employment guidance for universities and provide some references for the policy-making mechanism of the government.Research methods such as questionnaires and interviews, have been employed in this study. It makes an empirical investigation of the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents", analyzes the survey results and influencing factors theoretically and arrives at the final conclusion. This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction, which makes a description of the research background and research significance and defines some related concepts. The second part is about the literature review and theoretical foundation, which mainly includes an overview of occupation choices and guidance theory as well as its current situation and some inadequacies. The third part is about the research design and research process, which includes the designing conception and the specific steps for implementation. The fourth part is about the survey results and relevant analysis. According to the questionnaires of the postgraduates in2014in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents" as well as the description of the interviews by previous postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents", this paper summarizes the problems and analyzes the reasons. The fifth part is about the conclusions and suggestions. It mainly includes the conclusions and solutions of the problems arising among the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents". The last part is the concluding remarks of the study, and it reiterates the research value of this paper and further discusses the limitations of the study.When the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents" choose their occupations, their employment outlooks are mainly influenced by the five combined effects from personal psychology and abilities, family occupation concepts, the career guidance in universities, the government employment policies and the social values, which mislead them into wrong ways for their career goals owing to their high expectations, poor evaluations, weak flowing abilities, utilitarian orientation and poor contributing motivations. Their overall employment outlook shows a utilitarian, conservative and passive state, which may make their employment outlook filled with conflicts. Meanwhile, these wrongdoings will be the obstacles for their employment.Therefore, if the postgraduates in "the plan for the ethnic minorities and high-level backbone talents" want to find jobs successfully, they need to adjust their employment outlooks properly under the guidance of scientific theories. It not only requires them to have self-awareness, self-improvement and self-adjustment, but to be closely related to the family education, proper training and guidance of the universities, the security of government policies and the correct direction of the public opinion.
