The healthy and fast development of higher vocational education is a main route for our country to speed up the popularization of higher education; The talents cultivation quality of higher vocational is an important factor to measure our higher vocational education development. However, higher vocational students’vocational competence is a core criterion to measure the quality of higher vocational students. In view of this, in order to improve the quality of higher vocational education, to promote the development of higher education, it is obviously significant to research on higher vocational students’ vocational competence evaluation. This research drawing on the theory basis of KOMET Evaluation Technology-Vocational Competence Theory, applying the methods of Literature Research, Comparative Analysis, Case Study and Surveying Study, initially conceives some suitable measure tools, methods and models for higher vocational students evaluation. On this basis, this research choosing students of the representative major-Electrical Automation to do the case study.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part mainly introduces the research significance, background, train of thought, methods, research situation of home and abroad, and the related concepts define. The second part discusses the index system of higher vocational competence evaluation, including the basic factors, index structure, tools and methods of higher vocational competence evaluation. The third part is the core theories of this research-assimilating the formers’achievement of vocational competence model and constructing three common models for higher vocational competence evaluation. The fourth part devotes to put the theories into practice-evaluating the higher vocational students’vocational competence of Electrical Automation majors. At last, this paper summarizes and puts forward some solutions for the problems and shortages.As this case research is at the basis of deep theory, acquires rich and powerful data and information. According to this, higher vocational colleges can totally understand the students’ vocational competence, so as to promote the curriculum development based on vocational competence, and ensure the reform of talents cultivation pattern of higher vocational education.
