| Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, cultivating talents requires high-qualified education. English, as a worldwide-used language, plays a very important role in the process of economic globalization. English teaching is an essential part of national education, and primary school English teaching is at the threshold of life-long English learning. Whether pupils can learn English well or not in primary school influences their further study of English. However, primary English teaching in rural areas is still a weakness in our country. So unveiling the current situation of primary shool English teachers in rural areas and giving some relevant solutions can not only improve teachers’ current situation and students’English learning efficiency, but also accelerate the development of whole Eduction industry in China.The investigation is taken in five towns and villages of Xiangtan, such as Huashi, Longkou, Fenshui, Shigu and Qingshan so as to research on the whole district of Xiangtan county. Based on questionnaire and interviews, the investigation shows that there are some problems from the primary school English teachers in Xiangtan rural areas. The following may represent the problems:the structure of teachers is not good, the teaching staff is instable and shifty; The professional quality of teachers remains to be improved;Teachers’teaching age is short,and school lacks elite teacher. Based on the problems, some reasons behind the problems are predicted. The reasons for the problems are few effective mechanisms are established to motivate teachers to go on teaching at rural areas; Improper way to recruit talents results in heavy burden on primary school English teacher; People’s desire to realize the professional development is not strong. According to the problems and reasons, strategies have been put forward from three aspects:Government plays the major role of allocating the English teachers in rural areas. Create the humanity environment in which teachers have a feeling of being loved. Primary school teachers should have the awareness of shoulder the responsibility to improve the teaching quality in the rural areas. |
