With the development of information technology, mankind has stepped into the information society.Information technology has been widely used in all areas, impact people’s original way of thinking and living habits, and bring the rapid development of society.As the increasingly deepening of the new curriculum reform, the informatization in education should be more and more attented. Geography,as a traditional subject, how can we keep up with the times, continuous innovation, and strive to develop? That is the question that all the Geography teachers should think about.How to make reasonable use of IT tools to assist geography teaching, and improve teaching effectiveness is the core of this thesis.The research and practice on IT assisted teaching geography of this paper can be divided into five parts.The first part is a synthesis of research:it introduces the information, concepts and features of information technology,rationale for the study, and describes the research status, significance.The second part combined with its own characteristics Geography, studied IT assisted geography teaching function.The third part:To find out the deficiency, an antidote against the disease, seeking methods to solve practical problems,I focused on teaching practice,used the survey,and combined with my teaching experience,through a lot of teaching examples made some research of Practice teaching information technology in geography from these two aspect:professional technology of software information and Information technology network platform.The forth part:Based on the research results of chapter third,To build the geography classroom as the core, I made some suggestions of the problems in information technology in geography teaching and the error of Operator.Nowadays,the geography classroom can not simply take the information technology as auxiliary teaching tool,it should be given more responsibility.Only when the information technology is really into the geography teaching,master advanced teaching idea, renewing education idea, learning the core technology behind the operation, enhance the quality of the teachers,and constantly promote the construction of efficient classroom, trying to find the joint between traditional teaching and modern teaching,can it accomplish the new requirements of the new era of Geography.
