In order to promote the professional development of secondary vocational school teachers, and improve their professional quality, the authorities have invested a lot of fundings to carry out all types of teachers’training. However, what do the teachers themselves need when it comes to the content of professional development activities? This is the most important issue to be addressed in this dissertation. Having a good knowledge of teachers’ needs for professional development activities, it will be more targeted and more efficient when conducting professional development activities.This dissertation consists of four chapters.Chapter1is the introduction, which includes the background, literature review and research approaches.In Chapter2, KANO model is introduced, which is the main theoretical basis of the questionnaire design and data analysis.The focus of this dissertationis is the Chapter3. With the KANO model, the needs of secondary vocational school teachers with different characters when it refers to the professional development activities are analyzed. It leads to the conclusion that although teachers are different in gender, seniority and types, they share something in common that most of their responses to the content are one-dimensional-type, and how these activities can improve their operational skills, how they can enrich their teaching and researching methods have the most important influence on their satisfaction of the professional development activities.In Chapter4, the factors which hinder and promote secondary vocational school teachers participate in the professional development activities are analysed. Thus to promote the teachers’s participation, the professional development activities should be organised more considerate and the content should be more optional. |
