China’s Textile Industry, The Transfer And Development Of The Region

The textile industry is the pillar industry of our national economy, with China’s rapid economic development, textile industry is not only the simple industry but also play an irreplaceable role in many areas. As a pillar industry of our country, it has also made an outstanding contribution for the economy all around the world. China’s textile industry, due to historical, geographical, economic and other reasons, mainly concentrated in the coastal areas of the eastern region, which complete the main production, investment, exports, regional distribution is very uneven. But in recent years, with China’s continued economic growth, acceleration of the industrialization process and the constant expansion of the textile industry, the sustainable development of textile industry in the eastern region is contradict with the limited land, raw materials, environmental protection and carrying capacity. Textile industry is facing new challenges, in order to find new space for development, China’s textile industry gradually shift to lower-cost central and western regions. What are the major shifting of China’s textile industry, the degree of transfer, the factors that affecting the industry transfer and how to make the textile industry to develop in better coordination in all regions, those are the important research contents of this study.This study, based on previous studies, first introduces the classification of China’s textile industry and industrial development characteristics. It elaborates the process of China’s textile industry from four aspects including production, exports, investment, efficiency scale. In measuring the extent of China’s textile industry on the transfer, it analyzes the size through investment in fixed assets, number of enterprises above the designated size, employees, industrial output value of the textile industry, the textile industry’s main business revenue, the number of profit for the textile industry. In this paper, it raises the factors impacting the transfer of China’s textile industry, and the analyzes the relationship between various factors and the transfer zone through the regression analysis of panel data models. Finally, the article proposes the developing of textile industry in the eastern and western regions, so as to achieve optimization of industrial structure, promote the upgrading and development of China’s textile industry.The main conclusions of this study include the following components:1.Analyzing extent of China’s textile industry regional transfer through quantities. The process of China’s textile industry shift to central and western regions speeds up continuously, the enthusiasm of the central and western regions which undertakes the transfer of China’s textile industry is high.2. Using panel data model to analyze the reasons for the regional transfer of China’s textile industry. Places with low land costs, low labor costs, large market scale, the significant agglomeration are easier to become a regional destination for the transfer of the textile industry. The industrial policy of support also plays an important role.3. On how to optimize the industrial structure of China’s textile, this paper makes plans for eastern as well as central and western areas of their development. The eastern region needs to guide the transfer of industries to high-end sector, accelerating the industrial up grading, as in the Midwest, it should use its own characteristics to establish manufacturing systems and develop special industries.
