| Managers are the soul of enterprises, and how the performance of an enterprise depends on the quality of managers largely. So, it’s very important for enterprises to improve the quality of their managers. If we want our managers to display a full range of management capabilities, we must train them scientifically before. The training of managers should be the important part of the enterprise strategy, and as an important respect of human resources management, management development makes its own unique contributions to enterprise development.This paper summarized the new theories of management development, including three theories:virtual training organization (VTO), competency model and flexible training. In these days, the circumstance that enterprises are facing has always been complicated and changeful. What the enterprises need most is the flexible human resources management, and the training of managers should be flexible and high effective. However, because of the particularity of managers, the training of managers is different to the training of the staff, which needs more effective training needs analysis, different training content and training models special to managers. Training needs analysis based on competency model could find the critical competency which can differentiate managers’ performance. Adopting the model of VTO can improve the training flexibility, offer the trainee valid training.At last, the author analyzed the status of management development in China. Based on the existed researches, the author brought the problems which exists in the management development of China into light, given countermeasure to the existed problems and summarized the comprehensive theory of management development. |
