Quality Of Urbanization In Chongqing

Urbanization is an indispensable part of the modernization and its quality is theregression of the essence and the deeper understanding of the urbanization. Chongqingis the sole municipality directly under the central authority in the west of China and isalso the economic center in the upper reaches of Yangtze river. In recent years,Chongqing has developed rapidly. the urbanization level from the31%in the beginninghas increased to55.02%by the end of2011, with an average annual growth rate of1.72percentage points and it is faster than the national average in the same period.The focusof this paper is that how the city of quality of Chongqing urbanization at such highurbanization speed.First of all, based on a large amount of relevant related literatures,the concept ofurbanization and urbanization quality is defined. Secondly, through the urbanizationquality evaluation index system on the existing research and the understanding ofurbanization quality in this paper, we have established a set of urbanization qualityevaluation index system based on data envelopment analysis method. And then,urbanization quality of40districts and counties of Chongqing from2006to2011werehorizontal analysis and vertical comparison.Finally, we summarize the main conclusionsfrom empirical analysis,and then put forward some countermeasures according to theactual situation of each region.Through empirical research on the urbanization quality of the districts and countysof Chongqing,we can draw the following conclusions:(1) from2006to2011,the overallurbanization quality of Chongqing has a declining trend, from the comparison betweenthe urbanization quality of the three major economic circles,Southeast wing has thehighest quality,one hour economic circle has counter level, the northeast wing ofChongqing has the minimum quality.(2) in recent years, the change trend ofurbanization quality is contrast to the level and rate of urbanization.(3) differentiatedurbanization quality of each district in Chongqing is increasing,the urbanization qualityhas a unequilibrium development.Differences in urbanization quality of the three majoreconomic circle from high to low is: the northeast wing of Chongqing, one houreconomic circle, Southeast wing.(4) the majority of districts and counties of Chongqinghave problems on investment efficiency and the waste of funds, the infrastructure has alarge space to improve.(5) on the factors affecting the urbanization quality,the quality of economic development is the most critical factors which impact on one houreconomic circle, while the factors of quality of economic development and the level ofmedical service has important effect on the wing area.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward the following suggestionsto improve the urbanization quality of Chongqing (1) to establish a correct concept ofurbanization development and harmonize the relation between the city level, speed andquality.(2) to improve the fund use efficiency, reduce waste, enhance the ability of thegovernment to provide public services.(3) to improve infrastructure construction andthe carrying capacity of city.(4) to improve the regional economic scale and the qualityof industrialization, laying foundations of the economy quality.(5) the two wings of theregion should strengthen the construction of a team of doctors, improving the localmedical service level.
