It has been acknowledged that R&D personnel are the enterprise core resources, thus strengthening R&D personnel motivation is a key to successful entrepreneurship and innovative activity.This paper studies the motivation mechanism of R&D personnel in OPRO Company. Using the combination of theoretical analysis and empirical research methods, based on the analysis of the status quo and existing problems of the R&D personnel motivation mechanism in OPRO Company, combined with demand characteristics of R&D personnel, it proposes to OPRO Company a systematic design plan of strengthening the motivation mechanism of the company’s R&D personnel.Given that, at the primary development stage, the OPRO Company capital strength was relatively weak, yet the technology products of the company had certain technical advantages and good prospects for development, short-term motivation and long-term motivation had been put in place.In order to meet the basic material needs of R&D personnel, and improve R&D personnel career development prospects in the company, medium and long-term motivations were put in practice. Equity and benefit sharing, the close integration of the company development and R&D personnel career development is OPRO Company’s effective way to improve R&D personnel motivation efficiency.On this basis, the paper comes up with follow-up actions regarding salary, benefits, career development, training, culture cultivation, performance evaluation and a long-term equity motivation. It proposes guidelines that OPRO Company as well as other small and medium-sized high-tech enterprises might wish to consider while building and improving their R&D personnel motivation mechanism.
