Study On The Design Of General Urban Road Guide Sign

In recent years, with the rapid expansion of urbanization process, urban roadconstruction has become the important index of promoting their competitive Force. Followingthese development, urban congestion, resource shortage, environment pollution and so on, itbecomes the important problem to be solved. As the important traffic safety facilities aboutmanagement and organization of urban traffic, guide sign plays a pivotal role in improving theefficiency of the transportation. It guides the way for traffic participants, on the one hand, onthe basis of reducing urban congestion, it becomes an important part of urban greendevelopment. However, because the city was the lack of understanding of the importance ofguide sign not in time for the construction, it cannot provide the traffic demand to balancewhat the traffic participants need, causing many traffic problems.In view of the urban road guide sign system, in this paper, based on the research at homeand abroad, and combined with traffic engineering, traffic aesthetics, vehicle engineering, andother disciplines to study guide sign. Through the above research, and strive to provide thetheory of practice base about guide sign system constructionFirst of all, the guide sign based knowledge points are involved in the study. From thedirection sign definition, classification, the classification of the general urban road, it makes aclear state. And the paper analyze the visibility of driver about guide sign, traffic aesthetics isinvolved in this paper. Secondly, according to the research contents in this paper, it researchesthe parameters from the aspects of layout of guide sign. Such as the direction sign pageinformation threshold, the direction sign height of Chinese characters, the direction sign pagecontent selection, direction sign page size, and it analyses the whole layout. Then, based onthe problems existing in the guide sign set and setting principle, different forms of roadlocation of direction sign and support are researched. Finally, based on the actual conditionsof Xi’an, paper has carried on the design again on part of urban road in Xi’an for the guidesign in the urban road.
