With the continuous development of urban economy, the number of vehicles maintains a rapid growth. However, the construction speed of parking facilities has been far behind the growth rate of motor vehicles. Faced with the growing parking contradiction between supply and demand, many cites have shifted from keenly balancing the supply and demand of parking facilities to reinforcing the parking demand management. By limiting the supply of parking and regulating the parking behaviors, we hope to maintain the supply and demand balance of parking facilities, harmonize parking and land use, and coordinate the relation between road traffic and society.Through the investigation of the generated parking demand of various types of land, it is discovered that there exists a difference among the parking demand peak hours of the different types of land. There exists a time complementarity of the parking demand in different types of land, and a phenomenon that a traveler might only park once while visiting several destinations. Therefore it is applicable to use time and space sharing of different types of land for appropriately reducing the parking quota of mixed land. From the parking demand management perspective, it contributes to alleviating the parking supply and demand contradiction, saving land resources and relieving urban-traffic congestion.By considering the impact of location factors on the production rate of parking, analyzing the impact of car ownership of a thousand people and the proportion of people who travel by public transit systems on time fluctuations of parking generation rate, the thesis author develops a parking generation rate model for the coming years. Based on this model, the time variability of land parking, the amount of land in a mixed-use land that a traveler visits in the same trip, and the impact of land parking use forms on the mixed-use land parking sharing are worked out perceptively. In light of the above analyses, the thesis author then develops a parking demand participation model based on parking sharing. Taking Zhongshan City as the research object, this thesis, makes an analysis of the current situation of parking supply and demand as well as parking characters of different types of land based on parking surveys. In the main urban area that is appropriate to implement shared parking, Daxinxinduhui is chosen as the specific object. With the employment of the developed models, the parking demand of this area in different situations is calculated. Finally, it determines the parking quota with the participated parking demand, which contributes to the validity and applicability of both the theory and the practical research of the present thesis.
