Grid-connection of photovoltaic(PV) power station has become a trend. Monitoring grid-connected PV system is an essential work for safe operation and control. The information interoperability between grid-connected photovoltaic system and power grid has become increasingly urgent. Functions and interface specification of secondary equipment of traditional photovoltaic power generation equipment are lack of unity. Manufacturers often use private protocols. The communication standard lacks consistency and depends on the specific communication protocol and network type. The interoperability problems become the huge obstacle for long-term maintenance and operation. IEC61850 is an open international standard launched by IEC TC57 working group. It has been proven and popular in the substation automation field and extended to communication networks and systems for power utility automation. So, it is of significance for the research of PV monitoring system based on IEC61850.Using IEC61850 modeling ideas, this thesis builds the models of PV unit devices on the basis of requirement analysis of PV monitoring system and designs PV monitoring system based on IEC61850. The main work is as follows:(1) Via consulting related literatures in the field of PV, the functions of photovoltaic power station are summarized, the way of information interactive between the photovoltaic power station and the dispatch center is analyzed. The monitoring analysis of typical photovoltaic system is given and the requirement analysis of PV monitoring system based on IEC61850 is finished.(2) Based on the requirement analysis, the content and core ideas of IEC61850 are studied. The configuration language is introduced. The distribution of logical nodes is shown in single line drawing and Design and implementation of information model for PV system are given. The model of PV unit devices is built based on IEC61850 standard. The tow communication mode for PV monitoring system is introduced, including client/server and publisher/subscriber.(3) PV monitoring system based on IEC61850 is designed. The overall architecture and function modules of the monitoring software are given and the implementation method is expounded. The main interface and the database design are completed. Partial system functions are simulated by using software tool. The performances of PV monitoring system based on 61850 are tested and its model is vertified.The PV monitoring system based on IEC61850 designed in this thesis with good interoperability can satisfy the demand of future smart grid management. The further work is to finish the development of PV monitoring system.
