Primary and secondary school campus project and general construction project have some similarities, but it has its own characteristics. Compared with ordinary construction project, school project is designed to require more humane aspects involved in the construction, in the construction of coordination and collaboration between each job requirement is higher, the quality requirements of construction are more demanding, and the construction schedule management requirements are more stringent. Quality, cost, and progress are the three objectives of project management, poor schedule management is one of the leading cause of project delay, quality decline, and investment out of control. Therefore, research on progress management of school project has important significance to effective control of the progress of the project, guarantee project quality, and avoid excessive additional investment.In this paper, the progress management in Qingdao Engine Manufacturer’s transformation project on its supporting secondary school is studied. Firstly, the research background and status of the school project management are introduced, the goal, methods and ideas, etc. of this study are explained, and tools and methods to elaborate schedule and theory related to schedule control are described. Secondly, project objectives, design scheme, construction programs, personnel composition of the Engineering Project of Qingdao Engine Manufacturer’s transformation on its supporting secondary school are introduced. Then, by using the method and tool of making schedule plan, combined with the actual situation of the project, the project’s work breakdown structure, responsibility assignment matrix, Gantt chart and network chart are created. The critical path method to optimize the project plans are used to meet the project targets. The schedule theory and the methods of control are used to control and manage the project. Before the start of the project, possible factors that would affect the progress of the project are analyzed, thus developed control plans. During the project, regular check on the project progress, analysis on the progress of the cause and appropriate control measures to control the progress of project are taken to guarantee the project move smoothly.Through research, summed up some experience and methods of schedule plan and control of engineering project of secondary school construction project, hoping to provide useful references for other construction in elementary and secondary schools.
