Since 1980 s, the policy of “revitalizing the nation through science and education”、“the great development of higher education” has driven the universities of our country large-scale increased enrollment and campus construction, this also brought new opportunities and challenges to the construction of university library. The rapid development of information technology in this period of transition, the change of the social function and the service mode of the library, leading to the change of readers’ space in the library.University Library as a functional building, its essence is provide a "Information Center", "service center", "Learning Center" and "social center" for the students and teachers. Readers is the main users of university library, the behavior characteristic and physiological needs to be considered in the design of the library. At present, some university libraries readers’ space in the actual use of space layout is single, lack of supporting facilities and the space utilization rate is low. The post occupancy evaluation is a scientific evaluation method, through the reader’s experience and practical experience, the effective analysis of university library evaluation information, the results with the original alignment project, to satisfie the needs of readers of the design strategy.Based on the background, this paper takes the readers’ space of new biult library as the research object, by using post evaluation as the main research method, based on the preliminary research, the six domestic university libraries construction survey. By using the method of questionnaire investigation, interview, analysis of readers of explicit and implicit demand of usage behavior, so as to clear the scope of the evaluation and the evaluation elements, evaluation to construct a scientific system of logic. Selected the South Lake Campus library of China University of Mining and Technology, Jiangpu campus library of Nanjing University of Technology and the University City Campus library of South China University of Technology as the cases study, the readers’ space is divided into the "cognitive space overall scene", "information retrieval area scene", "reading scene" and "public activity area scene". Combined with the theory of architecture, and with the environmental psychology, statistics and other related theories, start with the readers’ behavior and psychological demand, doing scientific evaluation research from the functional, physical environment, psychological environment three aspects. Through the statistical analysis of the evaluation results, summed up the new successful enlightenment in the Library Readers’ space design and existing problems, find the causes and explore the corresponding solutions, thus obtains the optimal design guidelines, provides some valuable reference for architects, they can design the university library more efficient and reasonable in the future.
