Urbanization. expanding the scale of the city, and the city has more and more high-rise residential districts. The residential districts lack of planning for wind environment in the process of planning and construction. Not only affects the comfort of pedestrian space, but also led to an increase in building energy consumption, retention of pollutants and other issues. Create a good wind environment became a topic of common concern for the designers, builders and users of the residential district. Good living area of the wind environment can improve the comfort of residents and natural ventilation efficiency, and thus enhance the level of building energy efficiency.Summing up the relevant literature of the cities and residential wind environmental, and introducing the theoretical basis of CFD numerical simulation method and simulation process. Then establish guidelines for environmental assessment of residential wind from both natural ventilation and comfort. Considering the specific regional meteorological characteristics of Hangzhou, this paper simulates the influence of wind environment from different planning and design conditions. Analysis the residential district of Hangzhou wind environment from wind angle, building type, building combinations, building height, distance between buildings and other conditions. Then, the recommendation of wind environment optimization in Hangzhou has been proposed. Finally, the wind environment of three different scales residential districts in Hangzhou City be evaluated and analyzed.In this paper, CFD numerical simulation is the method of wind environment evaluation. The conclusion can make some reference and guidance to planning of residential districts, so that more city planners understand and design residential air environment in reality. The research shows that arrangement, a combination of residential building relationships, wind angle and size of settlements would have an effect on wind environment of settlements. The best wind angle in Hangzhou city is 22.5°~45°. Building arrangements are priorities for the vertical staggered, determinant, and the surrounding enclosure. Settlements windward arrangement should not be too high, but also should consider the economy while increasing building space. In addition, the larger settlements, wind environment more complex interactions between different groups are more strongly, and actual work, more factors impact on wind environment of residential district need to be considered.
