Wind environment, which is one of most important aspect in the outdoor environment is obtained much public concerns. The wind environment has profound effect on people outside comfort, safety, natural ventilation and building energy consumption. Outdoor wind environment in a residential district is involved in many factors, such as landform and physiognomy, layout forms, geometric shape characteristic and wind azimuth et al. In this paper, the outdoor wind environment of residential districts is studied from the layout forms, wind azimuth and geometric shape characteristic.In this paper, residential district in south of China as the research object. At first, based on the main study results, built the evaluated criterion of the outdoor wind environment in residential district at the pedestrian level. Then according to theory knowledge of CFD, set up the turbulent flow control equation based on the Navier-Stokes equation and standard k-ε turbulence model, in the meanwhile, confirm the numerical disperse and resolution methods. And analyze the data about geometric shape characteristic, established analysis model which can reflect real residential district geometric shape characteristic, then simulated four typical layout forms of wind environment in residential district. In order to improve the wind environment in residential district, it better to avoid wind flow into district vertically(namely wind azimuth for S) in the length direction. In the phase of the building design, should make the angle between the south direction of building and summer wind direction is not less than45°, the wind environment will be better for this arrangement.Finally according to change the geometric shape characteristic of the analysis model, the outdoor wind environment of analysis model for different geometric shape characteristic is analyzed. Known clearly for the wind azimuth is S, length of the building have greatly influence to wind environment, the influence of width is small; when the building proportion L/B is2.0, it can keep the wind environment in a better situation, and in the district design, consider of the wind environment, rank of the layout forms is: indented array> stagger array> aligned array> hybridizing array.
