Distribution automation is an important method to improve power supply, its reliability and quality, thus to achieve safe and economic operation of power distribution network. Distribution automation can not only effectively improve the distribution network dispatch, overhaul and production management level, but also can make customers receive high quality service, which is the inevitable trend of power system modernization development.Electric power lines with automatic feeder automation can complete self-healing in one minute time after failure, its fault treatment efficiency can reach ten times faster than half auto mode. This will improve the operation reliability of distribution network and increase the quantity of electricity sales and power quality, also to reduce power outage time which has huge positive significance, will bring direct economic benefits and a wide range of social benefits.This paper takes distribution automation construction project in Hangzhou Power Supply Company as an example, firstly, the distribution network structure and the status quo of distribution automation construction in Hangzhou are studied in detail, then it introduces the contents of automatic feeder automation reconstruction in Hangzhou urban area. Next,the fault treatment function test method of the automatic feeder automation in Hangzhou (including the master station and the terminal unit test method) is discussed, and an example of the test scheme of the switching state operation of the distribution automation is given. Finally, the benefit of distribution automation construction project in Hangzhou Power Supply Company is analyzed and summarized.
