This thesis study the architectural progress of Lingnan Region Modern Architecture spread to Taiwan under the following background: Japan surrendered in the World War II, Kuo Min Tang retreated to Taiwan from the Mainland China, American Aid to Taiwan. The study begins with the relevant character, graduates and teacher from Lingnan Region’s Nation Sun Yat-Sen University who immigrated to Taiwai: Wu Meixing, Peng Zuozhi(George Tso Chih Peng), Wang Jichang, He-chen Ci(Ho Chen-Tsu), Hu Zhaohui. With methods of acquisition, and comparative analysis, the thesis collates the idea, writings, established works and achievements by the graduates above.The research meaning of the thesis, firstly lies in complementing the Lingnan Region Modern Architecture; secondly lies in tracing some certain part of Taiwan Modern Architecture to Lingnan, draws the outline of Lingnan Architecture from Mainland China which are becoming indistinct as time goes by. Based on the historical data collated above, the thesis also tries to discuss the architectural event which the character involved: Taiwan Architecture introducing Modernism, Taiwan’s Architecture education transform to Mainland China’s system, the architecture design shared the same style with Lingnan Region Modern Architecture, the influence on Taiwan’s Urban Planning. By the discuss above, the thesis hope to provide diversified perspective on the subtle and complicated histoy.
