Heyang folk song is a kind of narrative folk song, which stems from Heyang, an area in southeastern Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province. After continuous development, the song has a history of thousands of years. The Heyang folk song is rich in content, forms and wide materials. It reflects the hardships of ancient heyang people and their courage to fight against the nature. The Heyang folk song, the cultural treasure of ancient China, most of whose forms are four lines of seven words, to a large extent, retains the style of "The Book of Songs" and the poetry of the Tang Dynasty. However, with the passage of time, a lot of precious folk song data has been gradually lost. The protection and development for this Non-material Heritage of Mankind is still in the initial stage, and the research into tourism development is rare. From this point, research and exploration on Heyang folk song are of vital importance.Discussion has been carried on in six parts in this thesis. Part one, as an introduction, begins with the reasons, significance of selecting the topic and the research approach. Part two comprises two sections, which in the first place has presented a general review of findings on tourism development of non-material cultural heritage at home and abroad. In the second section, from both the cultural inheritance and protection angles, detailed discussion is made on the Heyang folk song. Part three has made an analysis on the relevant theories of tourism development of the non-material cultural heritage. Part Four&Five, as the body part, has focused on the analysis of the folk song as tourism resources as well as possible suggestions for tourism development. And the last serves just as the summary and prospect part.Efforts have been directed towards the research into this the non-material cultural heritage in the hope of promoting the local development of both the material and spiritual civilizations. Meanwhile, the essence of traditional culture is also supposed to be carried forward, which may eventually have a positive significance in improving ethnic solidarity and maintenance.
